Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21 1982. She is an American Actress best known as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV series Lost. Originating from Worthington Ohio she quit high school to move in Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. While struggling financially she landed her first part as Rachel's Room's main character the web-based video series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. The film for television Murder in Greenwich that she appeared in, where she portrayed 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for the Young Artist Award. Grace was Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television series in 2004. The show featured her as the principal protagonist for two seasons and also won an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace left the television series in the year 2005, to take on the role of a greater part in movies, and had a role opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. She was in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 as well as Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. In 2008, she played the same role in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace returned to the character of Shannon in two episodes of Lost including the series finale. In 2013, she appears in Californianation, the 6th Season. She portrays Faith as a groupie, and also a muse to the stars, who catches the interest of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Gyllenhaal is a member of her family, and is the older sibling of Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was in her teens, she played small parts in films made by her father. She also co-starred with her older sister in Donnie Darko which is a popular cult movie. Then she appeared on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received acclaim from critics for her leading performances in the romantic erotic comedy drama Secretary (2002) and in the dramatic Sherrybaby (2006) both of which earned her the Golden Globe Award nomination. She had several commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However it was her performance in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her greater attention for her performance in The Dark Knight (2008). In recognition of her role as a single mother in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The subsequent roles she has played include Nanny McPhee, in the Big Bang and Hysteria. In addition to her role as an agent of the Secret Service agent, she was also seen on screen in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). One of her latest roles included as the main character in The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal composed and directed her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The thriller that dealt with psychological issues was awarded the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. It was also nominated to the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
